West Coast Driver Training & Education Inc. is licensed by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia as a Driving School authorized to provide instruction to students in Class 2,3,4,5 and 7. We are also licensed to teach Air Brake Courses.

We provide lessons and instruction under the name West Coast Driver Training.

West Coast Driver Training & Education Inc. is based in Saanich, B.C. and we service Greater Victoria, Duncan and the Cowichan Valley and Nanaimo. We will provide instruction in Port Alberni, Courtenay/Comox and the North Island by special arrangement.

I am Mark Anderson, the owner and Chief Instructor at West Coast Driver Training & Education Inc. I am an ICBC licensed Driving Instructor authorized by ICBC to teach Class 1 MELT, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7. I am also licensed by ICBC to teach Air Brakes Courses and assess clients on the Air Brakes Pretrip.

I do not provide instruction for Class 6 (motorcycles) but I can recommend qualified Instructors who do.

I got my BC Class 1 Drivers license when I was 19 (more years ago than I care to think about) and I have worked driving tractor trailers, tour buses and public transit buses. Before becoming a licensed Driving Instructor I spent nearly two decades driving public transit buses for BC Transit in Victoria.

When I retired from BC Transit I obtained my Class 5/7 Driving Instructors license at DriveWiseBC in Victoria and was offered an Instructors position by Young Drivers Of Canada, for which I taught for 12 months in Nanaimo, Duncan and the Cowichan Valley.

While working for Young Drivers Of Canada, I upgraded my BC Driving Instructors License to include Class 1, 2, 3 and 4 and decided to start my own ICBC Licensed Driving School, West Coast Driver Training & Education Inc., which was licensed as a Driving School by ICBC in September 2018.

I am currently offering instruction in Class 3, Class 4 Restricted, Class 4 Unrestricted, Class 5 and Class 7. I am a MELT qualified Instructor but I am not offering Class 1 training at this time. I can also offer training in Class 2 subject to availability of suitable vehicles.

By enrolling for driving lessons with West Coast Driver Training & Education Inc. you will be receiving reasonably priced instruction from an experienced Licensed Instructor with decades of professional driving experience.

Erica Winter, M.Ed., is our Office Manager and Director of Education.

She will now be handling all our office administration, including lesson scheduling, as well as developing our proposed Graduated Licensing Program classroom course for new drivers and our proposed Driving Instructor Training Course, both of which we hope to have ready for approval by ICBC later this year.
